“We see the nourishing of our land as a way of connecting healthy soils, healthy produce and healthy people. We want to tread as lightly as possible on our land; land that has been nurtured by six generations of Henschke and is our past, our present and our future”. – Prue Henschke, viticulturist
About
Henschke
Henschke (1868), one of Australia’s oldest family-owned wineries, is recognised for its exceptional quality single-vineyard wines from carefully tended, pre-phylloxera old vines. As custodians, fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke and his viticulturist wife Prue have been visionary in utilising innovative techniques to improve soil and vine health. To preserve the genetic heritage of their oldest vines they have implemented an inspiring nursery program, and lead the way with organic and biodynamic practices. The family’s commitment to sustainability stems from their desire to ensure the created environment sits in a healthy balance with the natural landscape, and to minimise harmful impacts to the earth by reducing carbon emissions.
